The story of this place
Wat Phra Prang Muni is in Muang Mu, Mueang Sing Buri, on Highway 32 (the Asian Highway) at km 134–135 on the Phrom Buri-bound side, opposite the Sing Buri agricultural college, about 7–9 km from town. Locals call it the golden temple for its gilded prang and buildings. It is an ordinary temple, not the Wat Phra Prang (Chan Sut) in Bang Rachan.

Its big square-based gold prang is the centrepiece, visible from the road. Travel sources presume late-Ayutthaya work from its style, but no builder, date or height has been found, while a Rajabhat tourism database says the temple was built around 1897; Thepsatri Rajabhat research dates the ordination hall to about 1917–18 or earlier, so the 1897 figure likely reflects later buildings rather than the founding. No Fine Arts Department registration has been found.
Beside the prang is the vihara of Luang Pho Yen, a revered Ayutthaya-period stucco Buddha, with a sacred well alongside; the site is said to be an old Buddha-image deposit. Legend says wandering monks once asked Luang Pho Yen for holy water to heal villagers. Inside the ordination hall are murals, which a former abbot said were painted in 1919 by Nai Peng, a Lao craftsman, with villagers, showing heaven and hell, the Buddha's life and the Ten Births.
The grounds are crowded with images: a yaksha guardian, a golden parasol, Ganesha, Brahma, Guanyin, Thao Wessuwan, a large black-and-gold Rahu, Mae Nang Kwak, a reclining Buddha, a Pa Lelai Buddha, golden elephants, Phra Sangkajai, the hermit Narot and the healer Jivaka under a tamarind tree, and a fish and turtle pond. People come to pray for luck.
It is open about 08:00–16:30 and free. Dress modestly and remove shoes in the ordination hall; allow 30–60 minutes. Take care turning in from the fast highway and use the U-turn points. Midday glare off the gold is strong and shade is scarce; late-afternoon light is best for photos. Signs are Thai only. Nung Ning river-fish restaurant is about 2.5 km away. Phone 089-239-0228.
