The story of this place
Krok I Dok Waterfall is in Khao Yai National Park, on the Cha-om side of Kaeng Khoi district, Saraburi. It is part of the Dong Phayayen–Khao Yai Forest Complex, a natural World Heritage Site since 2005, while Khao Yai itself was declared Thailand's first national park on 18 September 1962.

The fall has 7–8 tiers and is often said to total about 350 m — the tallest in central Thailand — though no official survey was found. Locals say "krok" means a gorge and "dok" means plentiful. The trail runs about 4–4.5 km each way, about 8 km round trip, taking 6–7 hours, with about 8 stream crossings from knee to waist deep and a very steep final kilometre with ropes — not the easy beginner hike some sources suggest.
Tier 5 has a popular swimming pool, and tier 7 is the highlight, with a rock platform for photos. Along the way are giant Krachian trees, butterflies, champagne cup fungi and mountain crabs in the rainy season. Rangers say there are no leeches, but there are wild bees, and elephant dung is often seen on the trail.
Khao Yai National Park and the Cha-om agro-conservation community enterprise run guided treks only. In 2020 the season ran to 29 November with groups of 20, at 250 baht for Thais and 450 for foreigners. In 2025 bookings opened on 23 June with 100 walk-ins a day.
For 2026, bookings opened on 1 June and treks began on 1 July, daily except Mondays, with 150 walk-ins a day. Thais pay 321 baht booked or 375 walk-in; foreigners 710 or 750, covering park entry, guide, shuttle and insurance. Children under 12 are not allowed.
In 2026 Khao Yai closed the waterfall twice for flash floods, on 31 August–1 September and 26–27 September. Check the park's page or call 086-092-6527 before you set off.
