The story of this place
The Banharn-Jamsai Tower stands in Chaloem Phatthara Rachini Park on Nang Phim Road, Tha Phi Liang, in central Suphan Buri, 100–107 km from Bangkok. It is named after former prime minister Banharn Silpa-archa and his wife, Jamsai, and is run by Suphan Buri Municipality.

Banharn was born on 19 August 1932 in Suphan Buri to a Teochew Chinese merchant family and was first elected MP for the province in 1976. The park was created for Queen Sirikit's 60th birthday in 1992, and the tower was completed in 1994 with about 250 million baht in donations and no state budget. Banharn was Thailand's 21st prime minister in 1995–96 and died on 23 April 2016.
The tower is 123.25 m tall on a 30 m base, with its observation deck on the fourth level at 78.75 m, ringed with telescopes; on clear days the view is said to reach Saraburi. The ground floor has Khun Chang Khun Phaen murals, and the upper level has King Naresuan murals and an exhibition on Suphan Buri's history, literature and sights. You ride the lift up and walk down a spiral stair. It is often billed as Thailand's first and tallest observation tower — best read as the tallest outside Bangkok, where some skyscraper decks are higher.
From the deck you can see the Suphan Buri River, Wat Pa Lelai and the Dragon Park's dragon. The park below has flower beds, a palm garden, fountains, a waterfall, a playground, a water slide and an evening musical fountain. Sunset, about 17:30–18:30, followed by the city lights, is the favourite time.
It opens Tue–Fri 10:00–19:00 and Sat, Sun and holidays 10:00–20:30, closed Mondays except public holidays. Tickets are 30 baht for adults and 15 for children, rising to 40/20 after 18:00 (2020–23 figures). Haze from February to April can spoil the view, and holiday evenings bring lift queues. Wheelchair users should ask staff about riding the lift down. Phone 035-522-721.
