The story of this place
Ban Chai Khao viewpoint, at 51 Moo 3, Thung Na Ngam, Lan Sak, Uthai Thani, is a raised viewing terrace, restaurant and campsite in a valley ringed by limestone peaks, nicknamed Thailand's Switzerland. Its owner, Rattana Chimkhan, built it on her own mango and mayongchid orchard; it opened around 2018 and the province promoted it under the OTOP Nawatwithi community-tourism programme.

The terrace overlooks rice fields and karst peaks, with swings and photo spots, a restaurant and stalls selling grilled food, som tam and drinks. Evenings bring golden light and a cool breeze, and on some cool-season mornings valley fog lingers from dawn to about 09:00 — lowland valley mist, not a mountaintop sea of clouds.
It opens 06:00–18:00. Camping costs 100 baht per person, free for children under seven. Entry was free when it opened in 2018 and a 2024 review mentions a donation box; the 30-baht terrace fee some sites list does not match recent reports. Call 085-731-0853 to confirm camping.
It shares the route to Hup Pa Tat — Highway 333 then 3438 toward Lan Sak, about 45–50 km and an hour — with no public transport, and lies about 2 km from Hup Pa Tat. Nearby are the Khao Pla Ra rock paintings in Moo 3 Ban Chai Khao, Tham Khao Khong Chai and Wat Tham Thong.
November–February gives the best chance of mist and cool air, and July–October green fields. Mist isn't guaranteed and usually burns off by mid-morning; midday is hot and exposed, so bring a light jacket for dawn. Weekends are busy — arrive before about 08:30 to use the swings without queuing.
